ESD shielding bags
Shielding bags enclose the contents in a metal layer and thus protect electronics against electrostatic discharges and fields during transport and storage. The range starts at 51 x 102 mm for individual components and extends to 950 x 720 mm for large parts.
The film thicknesses are 50, 75, 76 and 90 µm, and the bags are available open, with zip or with closure flap. If you only want to dissipate within the EPA, the dissipative ESD bags are sufficient; the overview is given in ESD packaging and shipping.

How to choose the right shielding bag
Size first
Measure the largest part that has to fit in and add space for closing. The sizes are listed as variants on the respective product page.
Closure type
Open bags can be filled and heat-sealed quickly. Zip bags and bags with closure flap can be closed quickly at the workstation.
Film thickness
Thinner film such as 50 µm is lighter and suits small to medium-sized components. Use thicker film of 76 or 90 µm for heavier or larger parts.
Frequently asked questions
When do I need a shielding bag instead of a dissipative bag?
When parts leave the EPA or are stored, the metal layer shields fields and discharges. A dissipative bag dissipates charge but does not shield.
Are the bags also moisture-proof?
The shielding bags on this page are not stated as a moisture barrier. Moisture barrier bags are available for this purpose.
